Multiply/Divide

When you multiply fractions, just multiply the numerator by the numerator, and the denominator by the denominator. Reduce if possible.

Example:  1 ¼ pizzas  x 3

1 ¼  x 3 = 3 ¾

Procedure:

  • Rewrite the mixed numbers as improper fractions
  • Multiply the fractions
  • Rewrite the improper fraction as a mixed number
